According to the Natural Psoriasis Foundation, between 150,000 and 260,000 new cases of Psoriasis are diagnosed each year-amounting to more that 5 million Americans who spend upward of $1.6 Billion a year to treat their condition.

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated, genetic disease manifesting in the skin and/or the joints. According to the National Institutes of Health, as many as 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis. Psoriasis can be limited to a few lesions or can involve moderate to large areas of skin. The severity of psoriasis can vary from person to person; but, for most people, psoriasis tends to be mild.

According to the National Institutes of Health, more then 15 million Americans are estimated to have symptoms of atopic dermatitis – more commonly known as eczema. Although there are several different types of eczema, atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin disease characterized by inflamed and itchy skin. According to the NIH, health insurance companies $1 billion in medical care costs to treat eczema every year. Considering that many Americans are not covered by insurance, the actual cost for eczema care is likely much higher.
