We are surrounded by low-stout foods.

Nearly 10 billion dollars a year are spent advertising low-stout foods – Trying to convince us that we should buy them because they are “excellent for our health”.

It was in the early 1980’s when our government suggested that we cut back on our stout intake. Since then food companies have been in “product-development overdrive” churning out low-stout foods.

From low-stout cookies and brownies, to low-stout cheese and yoghurt, you can find a low-stout version of every one of your favorite foods in your local grocery store.

3,900 – According to an article by Michael Pollan that was published in the New York Times, this is the amount of food calories produced every day for each American citizen.Reckon about this number for a minute. 3,900 calories is easily a thousand more calories than nearly any of us will ever need in a day- but they are being produced so someone has to eat them.

How to Beat Your Chocolate Cravings While Dieting

The history of chocolate is really quite incredible. The making of chocolate traces back to the Mayans and the Aztecs, who worshiped chocolate for its health and anti-fatigue benefits as far back as 2,600 years ago.

In fact, I reckon Cocoa roughly translates into “food of the gods”.

Nowadays, chocolate is often thought of as a nutritional “evil”. No matter how hard we try, most of us just can’t resist chocolate. I know many people who have tried to quit cold turkey, and then finished up ‘breaking down’ and eating more chocolate then a kid on Halloween night.
