ESCAPE THE TRAP OF TYPE 2 DIABETES

Are you a type 2 diabetic and using insulin? Oh, if only diabetes control were simpler! If we could just eat reasonable meals and cover what we eat with a small insulin, we could live with that. Indeed, many type 2 diabetics do live with it. But the truth is, it is entirely unacceptable. And here’s why.
Type 2 diabetes is all about insulin resistance. Insulin resistance all but defines what type 2 diabetes is. Our problem is not that we don’t produce enough insulin (which is the problem for type 1), but that our cells have become resistant to the “unlocking” mechanism of insulin. Glucose in the bloodstream does not enter the cells because the cells resist the insulin key to let the glucose in.
What’s more, insulin resistance is directly related to body-stout. The more stout we have, the greater our insulin resistance becomes.
It’s the beginning of a terrible cycle. The greater our insulin resistance, the more insulin is needed to control our blood glucose levels. That is why, even as type 2 diabetics who make some of our own insulin, many type 2s have to inject additional insulin to cover their carbohydrate intake.
Now the cycle really kicks in. Excess insulin makes us fatter. Insulin not used to transfer blood glucose into the cells is turned into stout. The increased stout makes us more insulin-resistant. More insulin resistance requires more insulin to do the job. Whatever insulin is left after doing the job is turned into stout. And so on, over and over again.
INSULIN RESISTANCE ? HIGH GLUCOSE ? MORE INSULIN ? MORE STOUT ? MORE RESISTANCE
This vicious, spiraling cycle has a grip on many type 2 diabetics. What’s worse, other life-threatening factors increase dramatically in this cycle. The excess stout and insulin increase cholesterol and triglycerides, high blood pressure, and other health-threatening, even life-threatening factors.
It’s the most hard thing about management of diabetes.
We must break the cycle somewhere. We cannot wave a magic wand to make our insulin resistance disappear. Nor can we just stop taking insulin willy-nilly. Uncontrolled blood sugars would be worse than the present problem. We can, but, reduce our body-stout. Reduced body-stout will decrease our insulin resistance. We should be able to use the insulin our own body supplies, greatly reduce or hopefully eliminate his need for added insulin — thus break the cycle.
Of course this is simpler said than done — but it can be done! Develop a focused plot of diet, exercise, blood-sugar control, and break the grip of the terrible cycle of type 2 insulin resistance! Your life will be healthier and better for it.
