Effective stress control results in the enhancement of both mental and physical well-being. Exercise and practice of relaxation methods are the best ways to keep chronic stress in check, but it isn’t realistic to take a jog or a meditation break every time you’re faced with a stressful situation.You can, however, practice techniques like controlled breathing exercises when you feel your stress levels soaring. The following exercise in breathing can be done for as little as three to five minutes at a time and is an effective way to halt escalating feelings of anger, tension, and frustration.

41. Women Under Pressure

Women are more prone to stress related problems then men. This partly due to the differences in the way women’s bodies and brains work, but it also comes from the way we perceive upsetting events. Women need to care for themselves by talking openly about stressful events. Have a simple but vital reciprocal agreement with a close friend to share each other’s upsets.

31. Study Religions

You may not want to believe all that they do, but looking at belief systems others have can bring many ideas from making sense of your own life. Do a little research in your local library or use a web.

32. Have Clear Goals

Have one major goals in your life at a time and spend time focusing on it. Make it achievable in three months. At the end of the three months, review your progress and set a new goal.

21. Renew Your Energy

If you want to feel relaxed and really great, lie down and place your hands on your body. Your hands might automatically move to a place where you feel discomfort or pain. They may also move to where it just feels ‘right’. You are now connecting to your innate ability to balance and recharge yourself on physical, mental, spiritual and emotional levels using your own energy. This is a gift that we are born with and use unconsciously on a daily basis on others and ourselves. By working with it unconsciously you are honing your ability and strengthening your inner healing qualities.

Paper is also a top stress-inducer, whether it lives on your desk at work or the kitchen bench at home. Devise a system to manage it. Buy a filing cabinet or bookcase and a stack of files and have a filing hour once a week to ensure it stays tidy. You’ll save time finding information and ease the stress that comes with paper. Be adventurous and investigate a software program to manage the paper mountain for you.
